2022 ESA Junior Referee Program

Welcome to the 2022 ESA Junior Referee Program. This initiative is designed to introduce young athletes and enthusiasts to the fundamentals of officiating, fostering leadership, discipline, and a deeper understanding of the game. Below you will find the official training schedule and the core responsibilities required of all participants.

Program Overview

The Junior Referee Program provides comprehensive instruction on rule enforcement, field positioning, and conflict resolution. Participants will gain practical experience through supervised matches, ensuring they are well-prepared to officiate at the youth competitive level.

2022 Training Schedule

All sessions are mandatory for certification. Please ensure you arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time with your training manual and proper athletic attire.

Core Responsibilities

Junior Referees are representatives of the ESA and are expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism. Primary responsibilities include:

• Punctuality: Arriving at the designated pitch at least 20 minutes before the scheduled kickoff time to conduct field and equipment inspections.
• Equipment Check: Ensuring all players are wearing safe, appropriate gear, including shin guards and appropriate footwear.
• Fair Play: Enforcing the rules of the game impartially, ensuring player safety is prioritized throughout the match.
• Communication: Maintaining clear, professional communication with coaches, players, and fellow officiating staff.
• Match Reporting: Completing the official match report promptly following the conclusion of the game, noting any disciplinary actions or incidents.
• Professionalism: Wearing the official ESA Junior Referee uniform at all times while on duty and maintaining an objective demeanor during match play.

Code of Conduct

All Junior Referees must adhere to the ESA Code of Conduct. This includes refraining from the use of personal mobile devices during matches, maintaining respect for all participants, and promoting a positive environment for youth athletics. Any breaches of this code will be reviewed by the ESA Referee Committee.
