To be eligible for consideration, applicants must: The 2022 curriculum features six comprehensive modules designed to build essential leadership competencies for technical professionals: This foundational module explores various leadership theories and their practical applications in state government. Participants will examine their personal leadership style, assessing strengths and development areas. Content includes self-awareness techniques, ethical leadership principles, and understanding the transition from technical expert to effective leader. Participants will develop strategic thinking capabilities essential for navigating complex governmental environments. This module covers data-driven decision-making processes, priority setting frameworks, and aligning team objectives with agency and statewide goals. Special emphasis is placed on balancing technical requirements with practical constraints. Technical leaders must effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences. This module develops skills in translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders, crafting compelling presentations, managing internal and external relationships, and utilizing appropriate communication channels for different situations. Effective team leadership is critical for achieving programmatic success. This module focuses on team formation and development strategies, performance measurement techniques, coaching and feedback methods, and creating an environment that supports innovation and continuous improvement within technical teams. State agencies continually evolve to meet changing needs and priorities. This module prepares leaders to guide their teams through transitions successfully. Culminating the program experience, participants will complete an applied leadership project addressing a real challenge within their agency or across agencies. Mentors provide guidance throughout this experiential learning component, with final presentations showcasing program outcomes and actionable recommendations.
