Overview
The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) Educational Foundation offers a series of meritbased scholarships each academic year. The 2022 scholarship program is designed to support undergraduate and graduate students of Greek heritage who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, and a commitment to the Hellenic values of service and leadership.
Who May Apply?
Eligibility criteria for the 2022 cycle include:
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or international student with a valid Greek heritage connection (at least one parent or grandparent of Greek descent).
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States for the upcoming academic year.
- Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Demonstrated involvement in community service, cultural activities, or AHEPA-affiliated organizations.
- Must not have received a scholarship from the AHEPA Educational Foundation in the previous year.
Types of Scholarships
The Foundation awards several categories, each with its own amount and focus:
- Undergraduate Scholarship $1,000 for fulltime undergraduate students.
- Graduate Scholarship $2,000 for fulltime graduate or professional students.
- STEM Scholarship $1,500 for majors in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
- Study Abroad Scholarship up to $2,500 for students pursuing a semester or year abroad related to Greek culture or language.
Application Process
Follow these steps to submit a complete application:
- Create an account on the AHEPA Educational Foundation portal.
- Complete the online form with personal, academic, and demographic information.
- Upload a current unofficial transcript showing GPA and course work.
- Provide a 200word personal statement describing your educational goals, community involvement, and why the scholarship is important to you.
- Upload two letters of recommendationone from an academic source and one from a community or professional mentor.
- Submit a copy of your resume or curriculum vitae highlighting leadership roles and extracurricular activities.
- Review the application for completeness and click Submit.

Selection Criteria
The Scholarship Committee evaluates each application based on four primary factors:
- Academic Merit GPA, challenging coursework, and scholarly achievements.
- Community Service Demonstrated commitment to volunteering, especially within Hellenic organizations.
- Leadership Roles held in student government, clubs, or professional settings.
- Financial Need (optional) While not a required element, applicants may include a brief statement of need to aid the committees holistic review.
Reporting Requirements
Recipients agree to the following obligations:
- Provide a brief progress report (maximum 300 words) at the end of each semester.
- Submit a final report and transcript after graduation.
- Allow the Foundation to use the recipients name and photograph for promotional purposes (with consent).
