Program Overview

The B.Pharm programme at Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) is a fouryear, eightsemester undergraduate degree designed to equip students with a solid foundation in pharmaceutical sciences, drug development, and clinical pharmacy. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge, laboratory practice, and industryoriented training, adhering to the standards set by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).

Key goals of the programme include:

• Understanding the chemistry, biology, and technology of drug substances.
• Developing skills in formulation, analysis, and quality assurance.
• Preparing graduates for roles in drug manufacturing, regulatory affairs, research and development, and community/hospital pharmacy.

Course Structure

The syllabus is divided into eight semesters. Each semester carries a total of 1200 marks, comprising theory (written examinations), practicals (lab work), tutorials, and internal assessments. The first two years focus on basic sciences and introductory pharmacy subjects, while the latter two years emphasize advanced topics, electives, and a mandatory industrial training.

Assessment & Grading

Each semesters 1200 marks are allocated as follows:

• Written Theory Exam 50%
• Practical/Lab Examination 30%
• Internal Evaluation (assignments, quizzes, attendance) 20%

Grades are awarded on a 10point scale (O, A+, A, B+, B, C, D, F) in accordance with the universitys academic regulation. A minimum CGPA of 5.0 is required to progress to the next semester, and 6.0 for eligibility to the final year project and internship.
