Empowering Women Through Knowledge, Skills, and Research Since 1957 Founded in 1957 by the visionary social reformer Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddi, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women began as a modest college dedicated to the scientific study of home management, nutrition, and textile arts. Located in Coimbatore, TamilNadu, the institute was conceived to provide women with a formal education that blended traditional domestic knowledge with modern scientific principles. Within a decade the college expanded its curriculum to include degrees in Arts and Science, establishing itself as a pioneer in womens higher education in Southern India.
