Black Nurses Association of Greater St. Louis (BNAGSL) Scholarship

The Black Nurses Association of Greater St. Louis is dedicated to supporting the education and professional development of Black nursing students and new graduates. Each year the association awards several scholarships to help alleviate tuition, textbook, and living expenses for deserving candidates.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be a resident of Missouri or Illinois.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program (associate, bachelor, or graduate level) or be a newly licensed registered nurse.
• Demonstrate a commitment to serving the Black community through nursing.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
• Be a member of the Black Nurses Association of Greater St. Louis or willing to join upon award.

Scholarship Amounts

The BNAGSL offers three levels of awards:

• Full Tuition Scholarship Up to $5,000.
• Partial Tuition Scholarship $2,500.
• Career Advancement Grant $1,000 for certifications, licensure fees, or continuing education.

2. Complete All Sections Provide personal information, academic history, and a 500word essay.
3. Gather Supporting Documents Include an unofficial transcript, a letter of recommendation from a faculty member or employer, and proof of residence.
4. Submit Online Upload the completed PDF and supporting files using the form at the bottom of this page.
5. Application Deadline All materials must be received by April 30, 2027.

Essay Prompt

Write a concise essay (maximum 500 words) that addresses the following:

• Why you chose nursing as a career.
• How you plan to use your nursing education to impact the Black community.
• Any personal or professional challenges you have overcome and how they have shaped your goals.
