Cheshire Y/Sea Dog Swim Team Scholarship 2022

Overview

The Cheshire Y/Sea Dog Swim Team Scholarship 2022 was launched to recognize talented young swimmers who demonstrate both athletic promise and a commitment to their community. Funded jointly by The Cheshire Youth Centre and the Sea Dog Swim Club, the scholarship provides financial assistance, training resources, and mentorship to help recipients reach higher levels of competition.

Since its inception, the scholarship has helped dozens of swimmers offset the rising costs of gear, travel, and competition fees, while also encouraging them to become role models for their peers.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the 2022 award, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

• Be a member of the Sea Dog Swim Team or a registered swimmer with Cheshire Y.
• Age between 12 and 18 years as of July 1, 2022.
• Demonstrate a minimum of 2 years competitive swimming experience.
• Maintain a school attendance rate of at least 90%.
• Provide evidence of good conduct (no disciplinary actions in the past year).
• Show a clear financial need or limited access to training resources.
• Submit a personal statement describing swimming goals and community involvement.

Scholarship Benefits

Recipients of the 2022 scholarship receive a package worth up to $1,200, which may include:

• Partial or full coverage of competition entry fees.
• Swimwear, goggles, caps, and other essential gear.
• Travel vouchers for regional or national meets.
• Access to specialized strengthandconditioning sessions.
• Oneonone mentorship with a senior Sea Dog swimmer or coach.
• Recognition on the Cheshire Y website and at team events.
