Understanding Climate Change

Responses to Climate Change

The necessary technologies and approaches largely exist today. What remains is the political will, economic investment, and social commitment to implement them at scale. The window for effective action is closing, but options for a sustainable future remain.

The costs of action: While addressing climate change requires significant investment, the costs of inaction far outweigh these expenditures. The economic benefits of climate action include new jobs in growing industries, improved public health, reduced air pollution, avoided climate damages, and increased energy security.

Climate change presents one of the greatest challenges humanity has ever faced. It is also an opportunity to address multiple sustainability goals simultaneously, create more equitable societies, and develop innovative economic systems. Our response to climate change will define the future for generations to come.
