What is Climate Smart Agriculture?

Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) is an integrated approach to managing landscapescropland, livestock, forests, and fisheriesthat addresses the interlinked challenges of food security and accelerating climate change.

As the global population marches toward nine billion, the demand for food is increasing exponentially. Simultaneously, climate change poses a severe threat to agricultural productivity through erratic weather patterns, droughts, floods, and shifting pest dynamics. CSA aims to sustainably increase agricultural productivity, adapt and build resilience to climate change, and reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions where possible.
