About the Scholarship
The Contoocook Valley Board of REALTORS created the Memorial Scholarship to honor past members who dedicated their lives to the realestate profession and to the community. Established in 2005, the scholarship provides financial assistance to aspiring realestate professionals who demonstrate academic promise, a commitment to community service, and a genuine interest in a career in real estate.
Each year a modest fund is set aside from board dues, donations, and local sponsorships. The scholarship is awarded once annually at the Boards spring meeting and is presented in a brief ceremony that highlights the achievements and future goals of the recipient.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be a highschool senior, undergraduate, or graduate student residing in the Contoocook Valley region (Merrimack, Hillsborough, or Rockingham counties).
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Demonstrate an interest in a realestate career, whether through coursework, internships, or related extracurricular activities.
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Provide a current transcript and two letters of recommendation (one academic, one professional or communityservice based).
- Submit a completed application by the posted deadline.
Selection Criteria
The Scholarship Committee evaluates each candidate on the basis of four primary factors:
- Academic Achievement: GPA, rigor of coursework, and evidence of continuous improvement.
- Community Involvement: Volunteer work, leadership in clubs or civic groups, and demonstrated commitment to local causes.
- RealEstate Interest: Clear articulation of why real estate is a chosen career path, including any relevant experience.
- Future Potential: The applicants goals, personal statement, and how the scholarship will assist in achieving those objectives.
Each criterion is weighted equally; the Committee seeks a wellrounded applicant who exemplifies both scholastic dedication and a spirit of service.
Benefits of the Scholarship
Recipients receive a onetime award of $1,500, payable directly to the educational institution. The funds may be used for tuition, textbooks, technology, or other educationrelated expenses. In addition to the financial support, scholars gain:
