Data Security Advisory Committee

Ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of organizational data through strategic governance and expert oversight.

Who We Are

The Data Security Advisory Committee (DSAC) serves as the primary governing body dedicated to the preservation and protection of our organization's information assets. In an era defined by increasing digital threats and stringent regulatory requirements, the committee functions as a strategic compass, guiding data management policies, security protocols, and compliance initiatives.

Comprised of senior leaders, information security experts, legal counsel, and key stakeholders from various departments, the DSAC provides a holistic view of the organization's risk landscape. Our mandate is not merely technical but deeply rooted in business continuity, ensuring that data security enables operational excellence rather than hindering it.

Our Mission

Our mission is to establish a resilient security framework that protects sensitive data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. We strive to foster a culture of security awareness where every employee understands their role in safeguarding information.

Strategic Governance

Developing and enforcing comprehensive data security policies that align with industry best practices and regulatory standards.

Risk Management

Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to data assets through continuous monitoring and proactive threat intelligence.

Compliance & Ethics

Ensuring strict adherence to legal requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA, maintaining the trust of our clients and partners.

Core Responsibilities

The DSAC operates with a clear charter of duties designed to cover the entire lifecycle of data security. From the moment data is created to its eventual archival or destruction, the committee oversee the protocols that keep it safe.

We act as the bridge between technical implementation and executive decision-making. By translating complex cyber risks into business impacts, we empower leadership to make informed decisions regarding resource allocation and strategic direction. Furthermore, the committee is responsible for overseeing incident response plans, ensuring that in the event of a breach, the organization can react swiftly to minimize damage.

  • Reviewing and approving annual data security strategies.
  • Monitoring compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Overseeing disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Authorizing security budgets and resource allocation.
  • Conducting quarterly risk assessments and audits.
  • Evaluating third-party vendor security posture.

Strategic Pillars

Zero Trust Architecture

We are transitioning to a Zero Trust security model. This approach operates on the principle that no user or device should be trusted by default, regardless of whether they are inside or outside the network perimeter. By implementing strict identity verification and micro-segmentation, we limit the blast radius of potential compromises.

Data Privacy by Design

Privacy is not an afterthought but a foundational component of our systems. The committee advocates for "Privacy by Design," ensuring that data protection measures are embedded into the architecture of all new projects and technologies from the ground up.

Continuous Education

Technology alone cannot secure data; the human element is equally critical. We mandate regular security awareness training for all staff members, simulating phishing attacks and providing workshops on secure data handling to reduce the risk of human error.

Governance & Meeting Structure

To ensure agility and accountability, the DSAC operates under a structured governance model. The committee meets quarterly to review the security posture of the organization, with additional ad-hoc sessions scheduled in response to significant incidents or emerging threats.

Meeting minutes are recorded and archived to ensure transparency. Decisions made by the committee are communicated to relevant departments through the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). An annual report is submitted to the Board of Directors, detailing the state of data security, major incidents, and the roadmap for the upcoming year.

Inquiries & Reporting

Open communication is vital for maintaining security. We encourage employees and stakeholders to report potential vulnerabilities or security concerns without fear of reprisal.
