The European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) is the largest European network of national, regional and local networks of anti-poverty organisations, and together with European organisations active in the fight against poverty. The European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) was established in 1990 and has since become a leading voice in the fight against poverty and social exclusion in Europe. With member organizations in 31 countries, including all EU Member States, EAPN unites thousands of organizations ranging from small local groups to large international NGOs. EAPN is recognized by the European Institutions as a representative European network of people experiencing poverty, and as a key stakeholder in EU policy-making processes related to social inclusion, employment, and social protection. The network's primary goal is to put the fight against poverty and social exclusion at the top of the EU and national political agendas, and to ensure that the voices of those experiencing poverty are heard in policy discussions that affect their lives. We work to eliminate poverty and social exclusion in Europe by raising awareness among policy-makers about the reality of poverty and promoting effective solutions. We ensure that people experiencing poverty have their voices heard in policy-making processes at European, national and local levels. We connect anti-poverty organizations across Europe to share knowledge, resources, and best practices in combating poverty. We provide and exchange information and analysis on poverty-related issues to improve understanding and inform policy responses. We advocate for social and economic policies that ensure social rights, dignity, and equal opportunities for all. We monitor and evaluate the implementation and effects of anti-poverty policies in EU countries to hold governments accountable. EAPN actively contributes to the European Commission's platform, bringing together stakeholders who share the goal of taking decisive action to lift at least 20 million people out of poverty by 2020. We monitor and influence the European Semester process to ensure that social objectives and the fight against poverty are given adequate attention in member states' reform programs. EAPN organizes annual conferences bringing together people experiencing poverty, civil society organizations, policy-makers, and researchers to discuss challenges and solutions. We coordinate and promote activities across Europe on 17 October each year to raise awareness about poverty and social exclusion, giving visibility to the realities of people experiencing poverty. EAPN advocates for adequate income support systems, living wages, and universal access to quality public services as essential tools to combat poverty.
