Welcome to our substance use recovery group. To ensure that our space remains safe, supportive, and productive for everyone, we have established a set of core expectations. By participating in this group, you agree to uphold these standards to foster a healing environment.
What is shared in the room, stays in the room. This is the foundation of our trust. You may share your own story outside of the group, but you must never disclose the identity or the specific stories of other members. Maintaining anonymity is vital for the safety and comfort of everyone present.
We strive to create a space where everyone feels heard. Please adhere to the following:
Consistency is key to the group process. Please arrive on time to avoid disrupting the flow of the session. If you know you will be absent, please notify the facilitator in advance. Regular attendance demonstrates a commitment to your recovery and respect for your fellow group members.
To participate effectively, members are expected to attend the group free from the influence of substances. If you arrive under the influence, you will be asked to leave for the day to ensure the environment remains stable for the rest of the group. If you are struggling with a slip or relapse, please be honest with the group; we are here to support you through the recovery process, not to punish you.
Physical safety is a non-negotiable priority. Any threats, violence, or intimidation will result in immediate removal from the group. Furthermore, we encourage you to set personal boundaries regarding what you choose to share. You are never obligated to disclose more than you feel comfortable with.
Support, don't fix. Our goal is not to solve each other's problems, but to provide a sounding board, empathy, and encouragement. Allow others the space to reach their own conclusions, and offer your support rather than unsolicited advice.
Conflict can occasionally arise in group settings. If you have an issue with another member or the facilitator, we encourage you to address it directly and calmly. If you feel uncomfortable doing so in the moment, please speak with the facilitator privately after the session so that we can resolve the tension in a healthy manner.
By following these guidelines, you are contributing to a community built on trust and mutual growth. We look forward to working together toward your wellness goals.
