Why the ICSE?

The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) is known for its balanced emphasis on language, arts, and science. Grades 9 and 10 are crucial years where the foundation for the board examinations is laid.

Core Subjects

The ICSE syllabus is divided into compulsory subjects and electives. The typical combination for Grade9 and 10 includes:

English Language

Focuses on reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar, and literature. Textbooks include poems, short stories, and a novel. Syllabi stress critical analysis and effective communication.

Second Language

Examination & Evaluation

ICSE assessments blend internal school tests with the Boards final exam in Grade10.

• Formative Assessments: Monthly tests, quizzes, and assignments contribute to the internal grade.

• Board Examination (Grade10): Six main papers English, Second Language, Mathematics, Science, History & Civics, and an elective (Geography/Economics/Computer). Each paper is 3 hours, with a mix of objective, short answer, and essay questions.
• Grading Scale: Marks are converted to grades (A1 to E) with a minimum of 33% required to pass each subject.
