Overview

The IndianOil Aces Sports Scholarship Scheme (often referred to as Aces) is a nationwide initiative launched by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to identify, nurture and support young sporting talent across the country. The programme seeks to bridge the gap between promising athletes and the resources they need to compete at national and international levels. By providing financial assistance, worldclass training, mentorship and exposure, IndianOil aims to create a pipeline of future champions who can represent India on the global stage.

The scheme covers a wide range of sports from Olympic disciplines such as athletics, badminton, shooting and wrestling to indigenous and emerging sports like khoKho, kabaddi and esports. It is open to both male and female athletes, with a special focus on encouraging participation from underrepresented regions and economically disadvantaged families.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the following basic conditions:

• Indian nationality.
• Age between 12 and 21 years as of the application deadline (exact age limits may vary by sport).
• Demonstrated merit a minimum of nationallevel performance (e.g., podium finish at a State/Zone championship, ranking in the top 8 at national championships, or selection in a national camp).
• Enrollment in a recognized school, college or university at the time of application.
• Clear academic record a minimum of 65% in the most recent qualifying examination (subject to sportspecific relaxation).
• No outstanding disciplinary or doping violations.

Note: Certain sports have additional criteria such as a specific ranking threshold or participation in particular qualifying events.

Selected scholars receive a comprehensive support package that includes:

• Annual financial assistance ranging from INR 25,000 to INR 100,000, disbursed in installments tied to performance milestones.

• Professional coaching by certified nationallevel coaches.
• Coverage of travel, accommodation and registration fees for national and international competitions.
• Provision of sportsspecific equipment, gear, and nutrition guidance.
• Mentorship from former Indian athletes and IndianOil senior executives.
• Opportunities for academic scholarships and flexible study arrangements through partnered educational institutions.
• Regular health and physiotherapy assessments, including injury management support.

Application Process

1. Online Registration Visit the official Aces portal, create an account, and fill in basic personal and sporting details.
2. Upload Supporting Documents Include proof of age (birth certificate or school ID), latest academic transcript, recent competition results, and a passportsize photograph.
3. Recommendation Letters Two letters are required: one from the athletes coach/club and another from the principal or dean of the academic institution.
4. Video Submission A 3minute video showcasing skills, recent performances and personal statement (why the athlete deserves the scholarship).
5. PreScreening The Aces secretariat verifies eligibility and forwards shortlisted candidates to the sportspecific selection committee.
6. Selection Camp Shortlisted athletes attend a regional camp where they undergo technical drills, fitness tests, and a personal interview.
7. Final Decision Based on camp performance and overall merit, the committee selects the final batch of scholars. Results are announced on the portal and via email.

All applicants receive an acknowledgement email within 48 hours of submission. The entire process from registration to final selection typically spans 810 weeks.
