Program Overview
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships each year to international students who wish to study at Japanese universities as undergraduate students. The 2023 Undergraduate Scholarship program was designed to foster human resources who will become bridges of friendship between Japan and the recipient countries through study in Japan.
Note: This program is highly competitive and provides a full-ride opportunity for students to pursue a Bachelors degree in Japan, including preparation time for the Japanese language.

Life as a MEXT Scholar
Living in Japan as a government-funded student is a unique experience. Beyond academic pursuits, scholars are encouraged to participate in community activities and cultural exchanges. The Japanese government provides support through orientation programs, and universities often pair international students with mentors to ensure a smooth transition into Japanese society.
