Japanese Language Curriculum

Program Overview

The Japanese Language Curriculum at YIEA Tokyo Academy is designed for international students, expatriate families, and anyone who wishes to acquire practical Japanese communication skills while gaining cultural insight. The programme balances the four core language competencies listening, speaking, reading, and writing with a strong emphasis on reallife interaction, digital literacy, and critical thinking.

All courses follow the JapaneseLanguage Proficiency Test (JLPT) framework, ensuring that graduates obtain internationally recognised benchmarks. Classes are taught by nativespeaking teachers with advanced training in secondlanguage acquisition and supported by modern multimedia resources.

Curriculum Structure

The curriculum is divided into three main tracks, each catering to a distinct learner profile:

1. Foundations Track For beginners and young learners (ages 612). Focuses on pronunciation, basic kanji, and everyday vocab.
2. Academic Track For highschool and university students aiming for JLPT N2/N1 or academic Japanese.
3. Professional Track Tailored for working adults who need business Japanese, specialised terminology, and presentation skills.

Each track is delivered through a semesterbased schedule (12 weeks per semester) with two 90minute sessions per week. Supplemental workshops, conversation clubs, and online labs are available throughout the term.

Assessment & Certification

Progress is evaluated through a mixture of formative and summative methods:

• Weekly quizzes and oral drills
• Midsemester portfolio (written assignments, audio recordings)
• Endofsemester mock JLPT exams
• Individual feedback sessions with teachers

Upon successful completion of each level, students receive an official YIEA certificate aligned with the JLPT level attained. The Academy also offers official JLPT registration support.

How to Enroll

Prospective learners can follow these steps:

1. Visit the YIEA Tokyo Academy website and select the desired track.
2. Complete the online application form and submit a short video introducing yourself in Japanese (or English).
3. Schedule a placement test (available inperson or via video conference).
4. Receive a personalized study plan and tuition details.
5. Confirm enrollment with a deposit; classes begin the following week.
