What Is the JTCIR?

The Junior Temperament and Character InventoryRevised (JTCIR) is a selfreport questionnaire designed to assess personality dimensions in children and early adolescents (typically ages 712). It is the youth version of the wellestablished Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) used with adults. • Extreme scores (2SD from the mean) warrant further assessment for possible psychopathology.

Because character dimensions mature throughout adolescence, lower scores in SD, CO, or ST are not automatically pathological in younger children; they reflect developmental stage.
