Key Projects & Initiatives

1. I10 and I12 Corridor Improvements

The I10/I12 corridor is a critical eastwest link. Recent upgrades include widening, bridge replacements, and intelligent transportation system (ITS) installations to improve traffic flow and safety.

2. The Louisiana Coastal Restoration Program

Working with the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, LaDOTD supports road resilience, elevated bridges, and drainage improvements to protect transportation assets from sealevel rise and coastal erosion.

3. FastLane Project (Interstate 49)

A multiphase project extending I49 from Shreveport to Lafayette. It adds four lanes and modern interchange designs, reducing travel times for freight and commuters.

4. Rail and Freight Modernization

Part of the states freight strategy includes upgrading rail crossings, expanding intermodal facilities, and collaborating with private rail operators to enhance cargo movement.

5. Rural Road Maintenance Program

Recognizing the importance of connectivity for remote communities, LaDOTD funds regular resurfacing and bridge repairs on over 6,000 miles of rural roads.
