History
Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV), often shortened to Gandhi Hindi University, is a central university situated in the historic city of Wardha, Maharashtra. The institution was inaugurated on 28th February 1997 under the central act Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya Act, 1995. Its founding purpose was to promote Hindi language, literature, and culture not only across India but also on a global platform, echoing the universal ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
Wardha holds a special place in Gandhis life it was here that the famous Sabarmati Ashram moved after the Partition of Bengal protests, and it later became a training ground for the Indian freedom struggle. By locating the university in this city, the founders symbolically linked higher education with the principles of nonviolence, selfreliance, and rural development.
Since its inception, MGAHV has expanded from a modest collection of departments to a fullfledged university with faculties covering humanities, social sciences, education, fine arts, and even technical fields, all taught through Hindi as the medium of instruction.

Admissions
Admission to MGAHV is based on a transparent, meritbased process governed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) norms for central universities. The key steps are:
- Application Submission: Online portal open from early May to late June.
- Eligibility Verification: Minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examination for undergraduate programs; 55% for postgraduate courses. Certain professional courses require specific subject background.
- Entrance Examination: For selected programs (e.g., B.Sc., B.Tech, M.Sc.), the university conducts the MGAHV Entrance Test (MGET) assessing analytical, language, and subjectspecific skills.
