The Master of Science in Environmental Science is designed to prepare students for professional careers in environmental science and sustainability. Our interdisciplinary program combines rigorous scientific study with practical application, enabling graduates to address pressing environmental issues facing our world today. With a focus on both natural and social sciences, our curriculum provides students with a comprehensive understanding of environmental systems, policy, and management. Students engage in hands-on research, fieldwork, and collaborative projects that develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for tackling complex environmental challenges. Environmental Chemistry My research focuses on emerging contaminants, greenhouse gas emissions, and development of sustainable analytical methods. Conservation Biology I study biodiversity patterns, species conservation, and the impacts of habitat fragmentation on ecosystem function. Environmental Policy My work examines the effectiveness of environmental regulations, policy approaches to climate adaptation, and environmental justice. Water Resources I research hydrological processes, water management strategies, and the impacts of climate change on water availability. Students in our program have numerous opportunities to engage in faculty-led research projects, develop independent research under faculty supervision, and present findings at regional and national conferences. Many students co-author peer-reviewed publications with faculty members during their studies. We particularly encourage research in emerging areas such as climate resilience, environmental justice, green chemistry, and sustainable resource management. We welcome applicants from diverse academic backgrounds, but strongly recommend the following preparation: We offer teaching assistantships, research assistantships, and competitive scholarships based on academic merit. Approximately 85% of our graduate students receive some form of financial support. To be considered, please submit your application by the priority deadline. Assistantships typically provide full tuition remission plus a monthly stipend. Our graduates are well-positioned for diverse careers addressing environmental challenges across sectors.
