Moberly Area Community College (MACC)

Empowering students for success since 1965

History and Mission

Established in 1965, Moberly Area Community College (MACC) serves the heart of central Missouri. Founded to provide affordable, highquality postsecondary education, the college has grown from a single campus in Moberly to a multisite institution reaching students across Boone, Randolph, Monroe, and surrounding counties.

MACCs mission is to provide an academically challenging and culturally enriching environment that prepares students for transfer, immediate employment, lifelong learning and community leadership. The college embraces that mission with a focus on accessibility, handson learning, and strong partnerships with local industries.

Academic Programs

MACC offers a diverse catalog of programs designed to meet the needs of both traditional and nontraditional students. Programs are organized into three main divisions:

  • Arts & Sciences Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) degrees, plus certificates in fields such as biology, psychology, and communications.
  • Career & Technical Education (CTE) Handson programs that lead directly to highdemand jobs, including nursing, automotive technology, welding, HVAC, and culinary arts.
  • Professional & Workforce Development Shortterm training, continuing education, and customized corporate courses.

Transfer pathways are a core strength of MACC. The college has articulation agreements with every public university in Missouri, ensuring that credits transfer smoothly for students who plan to pursue a bachelors degree. In addition, MACC provides dualcredit options for highschool juniors and seniors.

Did you know? More than 70% of MACC graduates either transfer to a fouryear institution or enter the workforce within six months of completing their program.

Student Life and Campus Resources

Although MACC is a community college, it offers a vibrant campus experience. Students can join clubs ranging from robotics and debate to performing arts and cultural heritage societies. The campus also hosts regular events such as guest lectures, career fairs, and community service days.

Through its Workforce Development Initiative, the college collaborates with regional employers to design curricula that address specific skill gaps. The college also runs the Community Education Program, offering noncredit courses in areas such as computer basics, small business management, and personal finance.

The colleges outreach extends to K12 schools, where MACC teachers lead STEM workshops, collegereadiness seminars, and summer enrichment camps. These programs help smaller schools provide experiences that might otherwise be unavailable.
