Preparation Tips

  • Understand the syllabus: Create a checklist of all topics and mark off what you have covered.
  • Study material: Use SSCapproved books, previous year papers, and reputable online portals for practice questions.
  • Time management: Practice fulllength mock tests under timed conditions to improve speed and accuracy.
  • Strategic guessing: Since negative marking is only 0.25, avoid random guessing. Eliminate options first, then guess if needed.
  • Focus on weak areas: Allocate extra time to topics where you consistently score low in practice tests.
  • Current affairs: Read a reputable newspaper daily and maintain a short notes file for quick revision.
  • English writing: Write at least one letter or essay each day; review grammar rules regularly.

Consistency is key. A study plan of 23 hours daily over 23 months usually yields good results for the MTS exam.

Results, Allocation & Counseling

The result is released on the official SSC website. Candidates can check their status by entering the roll number and date of birth. The merit list is prepared based on the total marks obtained in both papers.

Qualified candidates are called for document verification (also known as candidates verification) at the designated Regional Offices. The final allocation of posts is done according to rank, preference of post, and vacancy availability. Offers are communicated through an official letter on the SSC portal.

Selected candidates must report to the posting authority within the stipulated time frame and submit all required documents, including original certificates and a recent photograph.
