Mulvane Substance Abuse Task Force
The Mulvane Substance Abuse Task Force (MSATF) is a collaborative, communityfocused organization dedicated to preventing and reducing substance misuse in Mulvane, Kansas, and the surrounding areas. Formed in response to rising concerns about opioid addiction, alcohol abuse, and the impact of illicit drugs on families and public safety, the task force brings together local government officials, lawenforcement agencies, health providers, schools, faithbased groups, and concerned citizens.
Mission: To coordinate a unified response that educates the public, supports individuals in recovery, and enforces laws that protect the community from the harms of substance abuse.
Vision: A healthier, safer Mulvane where all residents have access to the resources they need to live free from addiction.
Monthly workshops are held at the Mulvane Community Center covering topics such as:
MSATF partners with the Kansas Department of Health to provide free naloxone kits to first responders, schools, and any resident who requests them. Training on how to administer the medication is included with each distribution.
A volunteerrun group offers weekly peersupport meetings, mentorship opportunities, and a 24hour hotline for those seeking encouragement during early recovery.
Representatives from the Mulvane Police Department, Wyandotte County Health Department, local hospitals, and community nonprofits meet biweekly to review case trends, share resources, and plan joint initiatives.
MSATF operates under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that outlines shared responsibilities, confidentiality protocols, and funding mechanisms. The task force is overseen by a steering committee comprised of elected officials and community leaders. Decisions are made by consensus, ensuring that all voicesincluding those of people with lived experienceare heard.
