NCITD International Trade Scholarship Program
The National Centre for International Trade Development (NCITD) offers the International Trade Scholarship Program to support emerging talent in the field of global commerce. Designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students, the program provides financial assistance, mentorship, and professional exposure to help scholars develop the expertise needed to drive Singapores international trade agenda.

Eligibility Criteria

- Be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident.
- Enrolled in an accredited university program related to international trade, economics, business, law, logistics, or a comparable discipline.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or its local equivalent.
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in a career in international trade, evidenced by relevant coursework, internships, or extracurricular activities.
- Commit to completing the scholarship obligations, including participation in NCITD events and a postgraduation service period (if applicable).
What the Scholarship Covers
The scholarship package is designed to reduce financial barriers and provide careerbuilding opportunities. It includes:
- Tuition assistance: Up to 50% of annual tuition fees, subject to a maximum of SGD 5,000 per academic year.
- Living allowance: A stipend of SGD 1,000 per month for the duration of the scholarship.
- Professional development: Access to workshops, seminars, and webinars on trade policy, customs regulations, digital trade, and more.
- Mentorship: Assignment of a senior trade professional from NCITD or a partner organization to guide the scholar.
- Internship placement: Guaranteed internship opportunities with key trade agencies, logistics firms, or multinational corporations.

Application Process
The application cycle runs twice a year, opening in March and September. Follow these steps to apply:
- Online registration: Create an account on the NCITD scholarship portal.
- Document upload: Submit academic transcripts, a rsum, two academic references, and a personal statement (max 1,200 words) describing your interest in international trade and career goals.
- Essay prompt: How can Singapore maintain its leadership in international trade in the next decade, and what role do you envision for yourself?
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates are invited to a virtual interview with the selection panel.
- Final selection: Successful applicants receive an offer letter outlining scholarship terms and start date.
All applications are reviewed by a committee of senior officials from NCITD, university professors, and industry experts.
Obligations & Benefits After Graduation
Scholarship recipients are expected to:
- Complete a minimum of one 12month internship with an NCITD partner organization.
- Participate in at least two NCITDsponsored events per year while studying.
- Commit to a 12month service period in a Singaporebased traderelated role after graduation (optional for students pursuing further studies abroad).
