Stepping into an oil painting workshop is an exciting journey into a medium known for its richness, depth, and historical prestige. Unlike watercolors or acrylics, oil paint offers a slow drying time that allows artists to blend colors seamlessly and rework sections over several days. To get the most out of your workshop experience, it is vital to arrive with the right set of tools.

1. The Paints: Quality Over Quantity

When starting, you do not need the entire color spectrum. Most instructors recommend a "limited palette." A basic set of artist-grade tubes will serve you better than a large kit of student-grade colors. Look for the following primaries and neutrals:
