1. Registrar Plant Science Department
Role Overview
The Registrar will serve as the administrative hub for the Plant Science Department, overseeing student records, curriculum coordination, and compliance with university policies. This position requires a blend of organizational skill, familiarity with academic regulations, and a commitment to supporting faculty and students alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate enrollment data and academic transcripts.
- Coordinate course scheduling, room assignments, and faculty load distribution.
- Ensure departmental compliance with accreditation standards.
- Provide guidance to students on registration, graduation requirements, and academic standing.
- Collaborate with the university registrars office on policy updates and reporting.
Eligibility
- Masters degree in Education Administration, Higher Education, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in academic administration, preferably within a science faculty.
- Proficiency with student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
2. Extension Scientist Plant Production & Management
Role Overview
The Extension Scientist bridges university research with the farming community. By delivering evidencebased recommendations and conducting onfarm trials, the scientist will help growers improve productivity, sustainability, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver outreach programs on crop management, soil health, and integrated pest management.
- Conduct field demonstrations and onsite consultations for small and mediumscale producers.
- Translate research findings into practical guidelines and publications.
- Secure funding through government and industry grants to support extension activities.
- Collaborate with faculty on applied research projects.
Eligibility
- Ph.D. in Plant Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in agricultural extension or communitybased research.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to convey technical information to nontechnical audiences.
- Track record of successful grant acquisition is preferred.
3. Plant Virologist Faculty of Plant Sciences
Role Overview
The Plant Virologist will lead cuttingedge research on viral pathogens affecting major crops, develop diagnostic tools, and mentor graduate students. The position emphasizes both fundamental virology and translational outcomes such as resistant cultivars and management strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute research projects on virushost interactions, vector biology, and disease epidemiology.
- Develop molecular diagnostics and rapid field assays for emerging viral threats.
- Publish findings in highimpact journals and present at international conferences.
- Supervise MSc and Ph.D. candidates, fostering a collaborative research environment.
- Seek external funding and build partnerships with industry and governmental agencies.
Eligibility
- Ph.D. in Plant Virology, Molecular Plant Pathology, or a related field.
- Postdoctoral experience with a strong publication record (minimum 10 peerreviewed articles).

4. Botanist Faculty of Plant Sciences

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct taxonomic revisions and phylogenetic studies on regional flora.
- Lead field expeditions to document plant diversity and assess conservation status.
- Maintain and digitize herbarium specimens, ensuring accessibility for global researchers.
- Integrate botanical knowledge into interdisciplinary courses (e.g., climate change, restoration ecology).

Eligibility
- Ph.D. in Botany, Plant Systematics, Ecology, or an allied discipline.
- Experience with herbarium management and specimen curation.
