RMIT Scholarship Applications 2022

Overview

RMIT University offers a wide range of scholarships to support domestic and international students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The 2022 scholarship programme continues the universitys commitment to attracting highperforming students, promoting diversity, and encouraging research excellence.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, financial need, community involvement, leadership potential, and specific fieldofstudy criteria. Successful applicants receive a financial benefit that may cover tuition fees, living expenses, or both, together with access to exclusive mentorship and networking opportunities.

Scholarship Types

RMIT categorises its scholarships into three main groups:

  • MeritBased Scholarships awarded for outstanding academic results and/or exceptional talent in a particular discipline.
  • NeedBased Scholarships designed to assist students who demonstrate genuine financial hardship.
  • Special Interest Scholarships targeted at specific cohorts such as Indigenous students, women in STEM, international exchange participants, and members of particular cultural or community groups.

Within each group there are a number of named scholarships (e.g., the RMIT International Scholarship, the Deans Honours Scholarship, the Women in Engineering Scholarship, etc.). The eligibility criteria and award values differ, so applicants should read each description carefully.

Eligibility Requirements

While each scholarship has its own specific conditions, most share a core set of eligibility rules:

  • Must hold or have applied for a place at RMIT for the 2022 academic year.
  • Must meet the minimum academic threshold (usually a minimum ATAR, GPA, or equivalent).
  • For international scholarships, a valid Australian student visa is required.
  • Some scholarships require enrollment in a particular faculty, course level, or campus.
  • Applicants must be able to provide supporting documentation (transcripts, proof of income, references, etc.).
Note: Applicants can apply for more than one scholarship, but they can only receive one award unless the terms explicitly allow stacking.

Application Process

The 2022 application follows a straightforward, online workflow:

  1. Create or log in to your RMIT MyRMIT account. This serves as the central hub for all scholarship activities.
  2. Search for scholarships. Use the Scholarship Finder tool to filter by faculty, eligibility, and award value.
  3. Read the full description. Each listing provides details on eligibility, required documents, and award conditions.
  4. Prepare supporting documents. Typical items include:
    • Academic transcripts (official or certified copy)
    • Proof of enrolment (offer letter or Confirmation of Enrolment)
    • Personal statement or essay (usually 5001000 words)
    • Reference letters (academic or professional)
    • Financial documents (for needbased awards)
  5. Complete the online form. Fill in personal details, answer short questions, and upload all required files.
  6. Submit before the deadline. The system will generate a confirmation email with a reference number.
  7. Review and award. Scholarship committees assess applications, and successful candidates are notified by email.

For most scholarships, the decision is communicated by early August 2022, giving recipients time to arrange finances before the start of the semester.
