However, bridges face constant threats from corrosion, fatigue, and weathering. Regular inspections are mandatory to identify structural weaknesses. Modern engineering increasingly incorporates sensors directly into the bridge structure to monitor stress and health in real-time, allowing for predictive maintenance.
