What Is the Scholarship?
The Sejong Korean Language Course (SKLC) Scholarship is a governmentfunded program that enables international students to study Korean language intensively at Sejong University in Seoul. The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, and a modest living stipend for the duration of the course, which typically lasts 12 weeks.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- NonKorean citizens aged 1835.
- Completed at least two years of secondary education.
- Proficiency level of at least intermediate (TOPIKII) or an equivalent test score.
- Intention to continue Korean language study after the scholarship period.
- Good academic standing and no criminal record.

Application Process
1. Online Application
Visit the official scholarship portal and create an account. Fill out the personal information form, upload a recent passportstyle photograph, and submit a copy of your passport.
2. Academic Documents
Upload certified copies of your highest academic transcript and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or professor who can attest to your academic ability and motivation to learn Korean.
3. Language Proficiency
Provide a TOPIK score report, or, if you have not taken TOPIK, an equivalent test result such as KLAT, IELTS (minimum 6.0), or a universityissued language assessment.
4. Personal Statement
Write a 500word essay explaining why you want to study Korean, your future academic or career goals, and how the scholarship will help you achieve them.
5. Interview
Shortlisted candidates are invited to a video interview conducted by the Sejong International Office. The interview assesses language ability, motivation, and cultural adaptability.
6. Decision
Successful applicants receive an official award letter by email, typically within eight weeks of the interview.

Course Overview
The SKLC program consists of 20 hours of classroom instruction per week, split into grammar, speaking, listening, reading, and writing modules. Classes are taught by nativespeaking professors using communicative methods and multimedia resources. In addition to language lessons, students participate in cultural workshops such as Korean cooking, traditional music, and field trips to historic sites in Seoul.
After the Scholarship
Graduates are encouraged to apply for further study at Korean universities, many of which offer tuitionreduction scholarships for SKLC alumni. The Korean government also provides a Study in Korea scholarship for those wishing to pursue a bachelors or masters degree.
