Overview

Stainless steel level sensors represent the pinnacle of industrial level measurement technology, combining durable construction with precise sensing capabilities. These specialized devices are engineered to withstand harsh environments while delivering consistent, accurate readings for various types of liquids.

The corrosion-resistant properties of stainless steel make these sensors ideal for use with aggressive chemicals, food-grade applications, and sanitary environments where hygiene and purity are paramount. Built with premium grade 316 or 304 stainless steel, these sensors offer exceptional longevity even in challenging conditions.

Our stainless steel level sensing solutions encompass various technologies including ultrasonic, capacitance, float and magnetic, hydrostatic pressure, and optical sensors, each optimized for specific operational requirements. The versatility of these sensors allows them to be employed across diverse industries from food and beverage to chemical processing and wastewater management.

Designed with both functionality and ease of installation in mind, modern stainless steel level sensors feature robust electronic components encased in hermetically sealed housings, ensuring reliable performance even in extreme temperature conditions and high-pressure environments.

Stainless Steel Level Sensor

Key Features

Corrosion Resistance

Grade 316/304 stainless steel construction provides exceptional resistance to chemicals, acids, and corrosive liquids, significantly extending sensor lifespan in aggressive environments.

High Accuracy

Precision engineering ensures measurement accuracy within 0.25% full scale, enabling precise level monitoring for critical processes and applications.

Temperature Tolerance

Operational range from -40C to 125C with optional high-temperature variants up to 200C, suitable for extreme environments without performance degradation.

Sanitary Design

Seamless construction with surface finish less than 0.8m Ra, meeting FDA and 3A sanitary standards for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications.

Multiple Output Options

Compatibility with various output signals including 4-20mA, 0-10V, RS485 Modbus, and wireless transmission for seamless integration with existing control systems.

IP Protection

Available with IP67, IP68, and IP69K rated enclosures, providing protection against dust ingress and high-pressure water jets, making them suitable for washdown environments.

Sensor Types

Different Types of Stainless Steel Level Sensors

Ultrasonic Sensors

Non-contact measurement using sound waves echo technology. Ideal for applications where contact with the liquid is undesirable. These sensors excel with clear liquids but may have limitations with foaming or turbulent surfaces.

Capacitance Sensors

Measure level changes in capacitance between sensor probe and tank wall. Exceptionally versatile with the ability to detect both conductive and non-conductive liquids. Offer continuous level measurement with excellent accuracy.

Float and Magnetic Sensors

Traditional mechanical design using a float with an internal magnet that actuates reed switches. Simple, reliable, and cost-effective for point-level detection. Ideal for tanks limited by structural constraints.

Hydrostatic Pressure Sensors

Measure the pressure exerted by the liquid column at a specific depth. Particularly effective for deep tanks and vessels. Accurate regardless of tank shape or size when properly calibrated.

Optical Sensors

Utilize infrared light to detect presence or absence of liquid at a specific point. Extremely compact design with no moving parts, offering high precision for level switching applications.

Applications

  • Food and Beverage Industry: Monitoring levels in mixing vessels, fermentation tanks, syrup containers, and CIP (Clean-In-Place) systems.
  • Pharmaceutical Production: Precise measurement in reactors, storage tanks, and processing vessels where sanitary construction is mandatory.
  • Chemical Processing: Handling aggressive acids, bases, solvents, and other corrosive materials that would rapidly degrade non-stainless sensors.
  • Water and Wastewater Treatment: Monitoring sludge tanks, chemical feed systems, and process water reservoirs in treatment facilities.
  • Oil and Gas: Level monitoring in storage tanks, separators, and chemical injection systems in both upstream and downstream operations.
