The Yoga Experience Scholarship

Empowering the next generation of yoga educators and practitioners

Program Overview

The Yoga Experience scholarship is a fulltime, tuitionfree pathway for aspiring yoga teachers, therapists, and community leaders. Each year, up to 30 scholars are selected to receive comprehensive training at our flagship campus, handson mentorship, and a platform to launch meaningful yogabased projects.

We believe that talented individuals from diverse backgrounds should have equal access to highquality yoga education, regardless of financial circumstance. Our mission is to cultivate compassionate teachers who will bring yoga to underserved communities worldwide.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age 1835 at the time of application.
  • Passion for yoga and a clear intention to use the training for service.
  • Completed at least 200 hours of yoga practice or training (yoga classes, workshops, or personal study).
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Collegelevel education is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to commit to the full 12month program, including travel to the residential campus.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

Note: Applicants with prior teaching experience are welcome, but the scholarship is primarily intended for those who have not yet earned a recognized yoga teacher certification.

What Scholars Receive

  1. All tuition fees covered (estimated value $9,500).
  2. Accommodation and meals for the 12month residential program.
  3. Study materials, yoga mats, props, and a graduate kit.
  4. Mentorship from senior faculty and guest teachers.
  5. Professional development workshops (marketing, business basics, community outreach).
  6. Postgraduation placement assistance and a $2,000 stipend for a community project.

How to Apply

The application process is simple and consists of three main steps:

1. Create an Account

Visit the scholarship portal, click Register, and fill in your basic contact information. You will receive a verification email to confirm your account.

2. Complete the Application Form

The form includes sections on personal background, yoga journey, and a written essay (max 800 words) answering the prompt: How will you use your yoga training to serve your community? You will also need to upload the following documents:

  • Resume or CV.
  • Proof of 200hour practice (class logs, certificates, or a letter from a teacher).
  • Two letters of recommendation (one from a yoga teacher, one from a community leader or employer).
  • Copy of a valid governmentissued ID.

3. Submit a 2minute Video

Record a short video (maximum 2 minutes) introducing yourself, sharing your yoga story, and explaining why you are a good fit for the scholarship. Upload the video directly to the portal or provide a YouTube unlisted link.

All materials must be submitted by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Can I apply if I already hold a 200hour certification?

Absolutely. Scholars with prior certification are encouraged to apply, especially if they demonstrate a clear plan to use their training for community impact.

Is the scholarship renewable for a second year?

The current scholarship is a oneyear award. However, graduates may reapply for advanced fellowship programs that we offer annually.

How are scholars selected?

Our selection committee evaluates applications based on:

  • Demonstrated commitment to yoga practice.
  • Clarity and feasibility of the proposed community project.
  • Leadership potential and personal narrative.
  • Quality of recommendations and video presentation.

What happens after I graduate?

Graduates receive a certificate, ongoing alumni support, and access to job placement resources. The $2,000 stipend can be used to launch or expand the community project outlined in your application.
