Overview
The University of Peshawar (UOP) conducts an Admission Entry Test each year for applicants seeking admission to undergraduate programmes in Arts, Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences and Management Sciences. The test is a key gateway for seats in both the regular (2year) and extended (4year) programmes. It evaluates candidates knowledge in core subjects, reasoning ability, and English language proficiency. Scores are combined with academic marks to produce a merit list that determines final allocation of seats.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent with at least 50% marks.
- For specific programmes (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science) a minimum of 50% in Mathematics, Physics and/or Chemistry is mandatory.
- Applicants must be Pakistani citizens; overseas Pakistanis may apply under the Foreign Student quota.
- Age limit: not more than 23 years for regular programmes; 25 years for extended programmes (subject to relaxation for eligible candidates).
Note: The university may set higher cutoff percentages for competitive programmes such as Medicine, Law and Management Sciences.
How to Register
- Online Application: Visit the official portal uop.edu.pk/admission and click Apply for Entry Test.
- Create an Account: Provide a valid email address, mobile number and create a password.
- Fill in the Application Form: Enter personal details, academic records, and select the desired programme(s).
- Upload Documents: Required files include:
- CNIC copy
- HSSC/Degree transcript
- Photograph (passport size, 2MB max)
- Pay the Fee: The entrytest fee is PKR 1,200 (online payment via credit/debit card or bank transfer).
- Submit & Print Confirmation: After successful submission, print the receipt. This receipt contains the test centre code and date.
Registration normally opens in early June and closes by the end of July. Late applications are not entertained.
Test Pattern & Syllabus
The entry test is a multiplechoice questionnaire (MCQ) of 150 questions to be completed in 180 minutes. The questionnaire is divided into four sections:
