About the Association
The Vijaya Bank Retirees' Association (Regd.) is a registered voluntary organization that brings together former employees of Vijaya Bank. Since its inception in 2003, the Association has served as a platform for retirees to maintain social ties, share professional experiences, and contribute to the welfare of the banking community and society at large.
The Association is a nonprofit body, recognised under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Its headquarters are located in Bangalore, Karnataka, but members are spread across India and beyond, reflecting the banks historic national footprint.
Core Objectives
- To foster camaraderie among former Vijaya Bank employees through regular meetings, cultural programs and reunions.
- To protect the rights and interests of retirees, especially in matters of pension, health benefits and postretirement employment.
- To promote social responsibility by supporting charitable causes, educational scholarships, and community health initiatives.
- To preserve the legacy of Vijaya Bank by documenting its history, milestones and contributions to Indian banking.
- To provide a platform for members to exchange knowledge, mentor younger banking professionals and engage in lifelong learning.
Membership
Membership is open to all individuals who have retired from Vijaya Bank after completing a minimum of five years of continuous service. The application process is straightforward:
- Submit a completed membership form (available on the Contact page or at the Association office).
- Provide a copy of the retirement order and a recent passportsize photograph.
- Pay an annual nominal fee of INR 500, which covers administrative costs and supports the Associations activities.
Members receive a welcome kit, a membership card, and regular newsletters that highlight upcoming events, policy updates, and member achievements.
Key Activities and Programs
1. Annual General Meeting (AGM)
The AGM is held every December in Bangalore. It includes the election of office bearers, presentation of audited financial statements, and a review of the years accomplishments.
2. Regional MeetUps
To accommodate members across the country, the Association organises quarterly regional gatherings in major cities such as Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, and Mumbai. These meetings feature guest speakers, health camps, and cultural performances.
3. Health & Wellness Camps
Partnering with local hospitals and NGOs, the Association conducts free health checkups, eye camps, and diabetes screening programmes for members and senior citizens in the community.
4. Scholarship Fund
A dedicated scholarship fund supports the education of the children and grandchildren of members. The fund awards meritbased scholarships for undergraduate studies in commerce, finance, and related fields.
5. Heritage Documentation Project
Volunteers collect oral histories, archival photographs, and significant documents to create a digital repository that chronicles Vijaya Banks journey from its founding in 1933 to its merger with Bank of Baroda in 2019.
6. Professional Mentoring
Retired senior officers and managers offer mentorship to current banking professionals through webinars, oneonone counseling, and mock interview sessions.
Governance Structure
The Association is governed by an elected Executive Committee consisting of a President, VicePresident, Secretary, Treasurer and five members-atlarge. The Committee serves a twoyear term and is responsible for strategic planning, financial oversight, and implementation of programmes.
An Audit Committee, appointed by the Executive Committee, conducts annual audits and ensures compliance with statutory regulations. All financial records are available for inspection by members upon request.
