AI challenges the notion of authorship and inventorship. Who owns an invention generated by an autonomous system? Discussions have examined the inventoronly requirement of most patent statutes and considered the possibility of introducing a machineassisted inventorship category or a new form of rights for datadriven models.
2. Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies
Blockchain creates immutable records of ownership and provenance, which can be leveraged for rights management. However, the decentralized nature of many platforms raises enforcement questions, especially when infringers operate across jurisdictions.
