Edward T. & Mary A. Conroy Memorial Scholarship

Overview

The Edward T. & Mary A. Conroy Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998 by the Conroy family to honor the legacy of Edward T. Conroy, a distinguished attorney and public servant, and his wife Mary A. Conroy, a devoted educator and philanthropist. The scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduate students who demonstrate high academic achievement, a commitment to community service, and leadership potential.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a fulltime undergraduate enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.
• Demonstrated involvement in community service or extracurricular leadership.
• U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or eligible noncitizens.
• Intended major should be in any discipline; preference is given to fields related to public service, law, education, or health care.

Application Process

1. Online Application

All candidates must complete the online application form available on the scholarship website. The form collects personal information, academic records, and a short essay.

2. Required Documents

• Official transcript (or unofficial copy with a faculty signature).
• Two letters of recommendation one academic and one from a community leader.
• Resume or curriculum vitae highlighting extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and employment.
• Essay (maximum 800 words) answering the prompt: How will receiving the Conroy Scholarship help you achieve your academic and career goals, and how do you plan to give back to your community?

3. Submission Deadline

Applications are accepted annually from January 1 to March 31. Late submissions are not considered.

Selection Process

The Conroy Scholarship Committee follows a threestage review:

1. Initial Screening Verification of eligibility and completeness of the application.
2. Qualitative Review Evaluation of academic performance, leadership experience, and community involvement.
3. Final Interview Selected candidates are invited to a 30minute virtual interview.

Five scholars are chosen each year, each receiving a $5,000 renewable award for up to four years, provided the recipient maintains a minimum GPA of 3.4.
