Our Pharmacy Residency Program provides post-graduate training designed for pharmacists seeking to enhance their clinical skills and develop expertise in specialized areas of pharmacy practice. Established in 2005, our program has graduated over 250 residents who now hold leadership positions across various healthcare settings. As a PGY1 pharmacy residency, we offer comprehensive experiences across multiple clinical disciplines, preparing pharmacists for board certification and advanced clinical responsibilities in diverse practice environments. Our program is ASHP-accredited and follows a structured curriculum emphasizing patient care, practice management, research, and education. Residents work alongside experienced clinical pharmacists and preceptors in one of the region's largest academic medical centers, providing medication therapy management to a diverse patient population with complex medication regimens. Our interdisciplinary approach ensures residents develop the collaborative skills essential for contemporary pharmacy practice. Develop advanced clinical skills through direct patient care experiences across multiple specialty areas including cardiology, infectious diseases, oncology, critical care, and ambulatory care. Our curriculum is designed to prepare residents for successful completion of board certification examinations in pharmacy specialties (BCPS, BCACP, BCCCP, etc.). Gain valuable practice management experience through quality improvement initiatives, medication safety projects, and pharmacy operations rotations. Complete a major research project with potential for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at national professional meetings. Develop precepting and teaching skills through mentorship of pharmacy students, didactic teaching opportunities, and case conference presentations. Build relationships with clinical experts and establish a professional network through interdisciplinary team collaboration and professional organization involvement. Our 12-month PGY1 residency program provides a balanced mix of required and elective learning experiences tailored to each resident's career goals. The program combines direct patient care responsibilities with didactic education, research, and practice management activities. Inpatient Medicine (4 weeks), Critical Care (4 weeks), Infectious Diseases (4 weeks), Cardiology (4 weeks), and Drug Information/Evidence-Based Medicine (2 weeks). Medication Safety (2 weeks), Pharmacy Administration/Operations (2 weeks), and Staffing/Distribution (experiences throughout the year). Ambulatory Care (6 months), Pharmacotherapy Clinics (6 months), Research Project (12 months), and Teaching Certificate Program (12 months). Oncology, Nephrology, Transplant, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatric Medicine, Geriatrics, and Academic Medicine. Our program accepts applications through the PhORCAS (Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service) system and participates in the National Matching Service. Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy. Candidates must graduate before the residency start date. Eligibility for pharmacy licensure in the state. Licensure must be obtained within 90 days of starting the residency program. Curriculum vitae, letter of intent, official transcripts from all pharmacy degree programs, and three letters of recommendation. Candidates selected for interviews will participate in both virtual and on-site interviews with program leadership and preceptors. Interview season occurs annually from January to February. U.S. citizenship, permanent residency status, or valid work visa permitting employment in the United States for the duration of the residency. Preference for candidates with hospital pharmacy experience, strong academic performance, and demonstrated interest in clinical pharmacy practice.
