The Sydney A. Phillips Scholarship (SAPS) is a meritbased award established to recognize and support outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to community service. Founded in memory of Dr. Sydney A. Phillips, a noted educator and philanthropist, the scholarship aims to continue his legacy of fostering intellectual curiosity and social responsibility.

Each year, a select group of scholars receive financial assistance that can be applied toward tuition, books, research expenses, or living costs. Beyond the monetary award, SAPS offers mentorship, networking opportunities, and access to exclusive workshops that help recipients develop both professional and personal skills.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following basic requirements:

• Be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college or university in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, or NewZealand.
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
• Demonstrate involvement in community service, leadership roles, or extracurricular activities.
• Submit a personal essay (500800 words) that reflects on personal goals, academic interests, and how the scholarship aligns with future plans.
• Provide two academic or professional references.

International students are welcome to apply, provided they meet the academic standards and hold a valid study permit.
