Course Description

Calculus II continues the mathematical foundation established in Calculus I. This course covers integration techniques, applications, sequences, series, and basic differential equations. Students will develop analytical skills and problem-solving abilities essential for engineering, physics, and quantitative sciences.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply integration techniques (substitution, parts, partial fractions)
  • Solve real-world problems using integration (area, volume, work)
  • Evaluate improper integrals
  • Analyze sequence convergence and determine series convergence
  • Work with power series and Taylor series approximations
  • Solve basic first-order differential equations
  • Develop analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

Prerequisites

  • Calculus I (MAT101) or equivalent
  • Familiarity with limits, derivatives, and basic integration
  • Proficiency in trigonometric functions and algebraic manipulation

  • Attendance: Regular attendance expected. Missing more than 4 sessions without excuse may affect final grade.
  • Timeliness: Late submissions incur 10% penalty per day without prior arrangement.
  • Make-up Assessments: Only for documented emergencies with prior notification when possible.
  • Electronic Devices: Laptops for note-taking; phones silenced during class.
